History
The complete PhotoDesk version change history.
Version 3.0.0
Big Features
- Secure Networking: Due to a secure networking layer, Instagram allows Photodesk users 100 likes / 60 comments per hour again
- Yosemite UI: The complete UI has been revamped, many views have been completely rewritten to make use of all the cool Yosemite features. However, it also looks really good on Mavericks and Mountain Lion.
- Yosemite Today Widget: You can now see the 6 most recent feed images in the Notification center
- Sidebar Folders: You can now create folders in the sidebar to sort and structure your Favorite Friends, Favorite Tags, Favorite Places, and Favorite Images
- Statistics: Quickly see how your account is performing with the built-in statistics
- History: The last 250 images or user profiles that you visited are stored in a visual history which makes it easy to find that one image again.
- New Sidebar: There's an entirely new sidebar that looks a lot cleaner and is a joy to use. The old sidebar is still available via the small button at the bottom right of the new sidebar
- Search & Filter Facilities: You can use "Load More" to load a lot of items (say 10.000 images for a particular tag) and then refine very detailed and specific searches on these items (Only images shot after date xx and before date xy, only with tagged users, only those which contain this text, etc). You can find this functionality in the filter popup, under "Custom Search".
- Integrated news: Instagram news, Photodesk news, Favorite Friends updates, new follow requests, it's all in one handy news interface now.
- Integrated Search: Just type something into the new search bar at the top, it will search for tags, locations and users with that name.
- Sync Finder Tags: Every image/video you put into a folder is automatically stored on disk and Finder tags will be added for the album's name and any folder that the album is in. This makes it easy to find items that you downloaded right in the Finder with specific tags applied to them. You can activate this in the preferences under advanced.
Features
- Zoom: Images in Detail View can now be zoomed either by pinching or by using the buttons or shortcuts
- Dock Icon: The dock icon can be hidden now (though it will only be hidden if the app is inactive / the window is closed, if you’re using the app, the icon will appear in the dock)
- Retina: Far improved Retina support. On Retina systems, images will now be displayed in high resolution (if possible).
- Full Resolution View mode: In addition to the icon view modes, there's also now a view mode that shows you the full resolution, removing the necessity to jump into detail view.
- Faster networking: I spend more time analyzing and optimizing the networking engine, and the results are blazing fast.
- Grouping: If you enter the feed, the images are now grouped by date. Images in any view can be grouped by date or username in the filter popup.

- Added new information to the Detail View so that one can see the username and the full name of the user that shot the image.

- Add Tags to Images: You can now right click one or more images and add your already defined favorite sidebar tags as a tag comment to an image. This allows you to quickly tag your own images with your most beloved tags.
- Icon View Full Keyboard Navigation: C = Add Comment, L = Like or Unlike, K = only Like, D = open in detail view, Q = quicklook preview, left arrow = previous image, right arrow = next image.

That way, you can navigate through images and like them accordingly without touching the mouse.
Important, the mouse hover has priority over the visible selection. So if you have one item selected, and you hover over another item, the hovered item will be liked / unliked if you press ‘L’. Changes:
- Added an error message that appears if an item cannot be liked anymore because the user hit the like limit on Instagram.
- Added an error message that appears if the Instagram token / session is turned invalid on the Instagram side. In that case, it is required to reset the token by going to the Instagram website and revoking access for PhotoDesk.
- Added higher delays for the multi-like and multi-comment functionality. The reasoning behind this is, that Instagram has a ghost follower / bot detector now, and when you like too many items too fast in a row, your account will be flagged. - Support for the new Mountain Lion sharing system. Currently, Mountain Lion doesn't support Facebook sharing. Until this is working, the old InstaDesk sharing mechanism and the Mountain Lion sharing mechanism will be displayed side by side (click the 'more' button to access the Mountain Lion sharing in the share dialoge). When Mountain Lion adds Facebook Sharing (presumably this Fall) InstaDesk will switch to the new system completely.

- Under Mountain Lion, clicking a news notification will also remove it from the News section.
- Also under Mountain Lion, deactivating Notifications will also remove all remaining notifications from the Notification center
- If the user is scrolling in the feed, i.e. if the user is not in the most recent area of feed items, the auto reload will not trigger in order to prevent the scenario where the feed would reload again when the user was just half way through it, requiring her to scroll all the way down again.
- InstaDesk now notifies the user when the Instagram feed needs to be reset with the iPhone or Android app (until Instagram fixes this issue).
- The popover comment controller from the feed view now respects the comment sort order when opening the 'add comment' text box. I.e. when the comment sort order is set to oldest first, when the comment text box grows big, it will also scroll the scroll view down, so that the bottom comment is still visible. If the comment set order is set to newest first, on the other hand, it will not scroll so that the top comment is still visible.

- Added support for maps for each view. There's now a new view mode that shows you the images aligned on a map.
- The image detail view now has a mini map that allows you to see where the image in question was shot
- New Category - Places: Here, you can search for locations to see which pictures were being shot there. You can also store favorite places in the sidebar.

- Added more keyboard navigation options to the icon views: - Left Arrow now takes the selection to the next element on the left - Right Arrow now takes the selection to the next element on the right That way, you can navigate through images and like them accordingly without touching the mouse. Important, the mouse hover has priority over the visible selection. So if you have one item selected, and you hover over another item, the hovered item will be liked / unliked if you press ‘L’. So when you want to use the keyboard to hover through your images and like / open them, make sure that you’re not accidentally hovering over an image.

- For private accounts, there is now a "Requests" view that allows you to allow / deny / block requests.
