Privacy Policy

1. Data We Access

StepMaps reads the following data from Apple HealthKit with your explicit permission:

• Workouts — walking, running, hiking, and cycling activities including distance, duration, and start/end times.
• Workout routes — GPS coordinates recorded during your workouts.

This data is processed entirely on your device to generate maps, statistics, and exportable images. It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties.

2. Location Access

StepMaps may request "When In Use" location permission to show your current position on the map. This location data is used only within the app and is not stored or transmitted.

3. On-Device Storage

To improve performance, StepMaps caches processed workout data locally on your device. This cache stays on your device and can be cleared by deleting the app.

4. Subscriptions

StepMaps offers an optional premium subscription processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase information from Apple — no personal data such as your name or email is shared.

5. Push Notifications

If you opt in, StepMaps may send you occasional notifications (such as monthly walking summaries) via WonderPush. This service receives a device token and an anonymous identifier. No personal information, workout data, or location data is shared with this service. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

6. Photo Library

When you choose to save an exported map image, StepMaps requests permission to add photos to your library. This is a one-way write — the app does not read your existing photos.

7. Data We Do Not Collect

StepMaps does not:

• Require an account, email address, or login of any kind.
• Upload your workout or location data to any server.
• Use analytics or tracking SDKs (no Firebase, no Amplitude, etc.).
• Share or sell any data to third parties.
• Display advertisements.

8. Third-Party Services

StepMaps integrates the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• RevenueCat — subscription management.
• WonderPush — push notification delivery.
• MapLibre — map rendering (runs locally, no data sent).

9. Children's Privacy

StepMaps is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
