Amazon is testing item tagging, reflecting its growing presence in mainstream applications. With this shift, there is hope for increased tagging options across various software. The potential to filter links, images, and files quickly could transform how we organize and access information in the future.

Amazon introduces 'Tagging'

Amazon is currently testing the Tagging of items. It seems as if tagging comes more and more into mainstream applications, which is really great; I for one can't live without tags anymore. I use TagBag frequently to keep an eye over the tags which I applied to my files, I use del.icio.us to sort my links, iPhoto to tag my pictures and so on.

Now with the forthcoming adoption of tagging in the mainstream media, I hope that the emminent implication will be a higher use of tagging options in the overall software landscape.
And then, someday in the future, we could filter all links, pictures, files, emails, comments, blog-entries, people and drinks tagged as mostly harmless in the blink of an eye.
