Tokyo Designer's week is held once a year and offers, especially for non-japanese visitors, access to the japanese design culture which, although strongly influencing us through their products, still has way more to offer than just that what actually makes it to the american or european market.

I think that the japanese culture has a very good taste of design, I'd even say that the role of design within the culture is in some ways stronger than outside of japan.
